School lunch is an important part of the school day, allowing children to learn the inter-personal skills required for a successful future, therefore the school has placed great emphasis and resources on providing the correct environment and support so all children succeed.
Lunchtime Crew – Initiative
School staff are supported by the lunchtime crew, who are pupils selected from Years 3 and 4 who have the responsibility for helping other pupils develop those key social skills both in the dinning hall and playground.
Top Table – Initiative
The top table initiative is designed to reward outstanding behaviour and children who demonstrate our core Christian Values at lunchtime. Each half term the winning table is rewarded with waiter service and a choice of menu from a range of selected delicacies such as handmade pizzas, etc.
Universal Free School Meals
All children in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to receive Universal Free School Meals through a government funded scheme where all infant age pupils are entitled to a hot school meal free of charge regardless of individual financial circumstances.
Free School Meals
It is still essential that if you are entitled to income related free school meals you apply. Even if your child is in receipt of the Universal Free Schools Meals offer, you can still apply and if successful the school will be able to claim additional funds to support pupils throughout the school. If you have any doubts to whether you may qualify please see Mrs Bradbury in the school office for further advice.
If you think that your child may be entitled to free school meals please follow this link to apply.
The approval of a free school meal (FSM) application would entitle a child to help with curriculum related residential trips or school visits. These are not included in the governments free meals to children up to year 2. To access these benefits families must be in receipt of a qualifying benefit and must have an approved Free School Meal claim with Northumberland County Council.
Paying for school meals
For all those who do not qualify for Free School Meals, we ask that dinner money is paid in advance. If more than five days dinner money is outstanding we may ask that you provide packed lunches for your child until the outstanding amount is paid.
School dinners will cost £2.50 per day (£12.50 per week). Parents can pay at the school office or using our on-line payment system School Money.
Please note the school retains the right to change the menu on special occasions or due to unforeseen circumstances.
