SIAMS

Communication between home and school is very strong and highly appreciated by parents. Many examples were given of whole families flourishing in the face of very challenging circumstances because of the care and support extended to them by the headteacher and his staff.

Year 1 & 2 Newsflash! In Literacy this week, we have continued to read 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' and the children have linked this to their learning in Geography the 'Seaside' and RE about caring for creation. The children recalled their actions and sequenced pictures in the correct order before matching captions and starting to retell the story. As Mathematicians, we have discussed 3D shapes and found real life examples of cylinders, cubes, cuboids, pyramids and spheres around school before working in groups to decide how to sort them. We have also started our measure topic, making reasonable estimations before using rulers and cubes to measure lengths and heights of different items. Today, we started to explore weight by measuring and weighing ingredients to make playdough using balance scales to the nearest 10g. In Science, we used our senses to explore signs of Autumn. The children recalled their senses and the body parts that are associated with each before going outside to record things they could see, hear, smell, feel and taste that reminded them of the season. They used these to write some super senses poems! In PSHE we discussed families from around the world and how they are the same and different to ours. We decided that while people lived different lives there were more things we had in common with families across the world than different for example everyone has a special person or shows care for each other.Well done everyone, another fantastic week of learning fun! ...
